A capacity contingent of 30 players took part in the annual one-day Murley Triples competition on Saturday 5th September. With ten teams of triples, the competition was fought over four round-robin matches, with the top two teams proceeding to a final.

Congratulations to Peter, Mike and Chris (left to right in the photo, below) who won the Murley Triples competition on Saturday 5th September after a very close final The gallant runners-up were Larry, Ken and David.

The Wednesday night open league is set for a thrilling final game of the season, with four players in contention for the Top10 Open League trophy. With a maximum of six points available from the final game, newbie David Loveder leads the league by three points, but will miss the final game as he’s off on holiday (commitment, man!). With Chris How and Alfie Simmons both three points behind and Guildford’s musical and bowls legend Francis Greene 4 points behind, it’s anybody’s guess who will win.

To the victor goes the eternal satisfaction of triumph and a tiny trophy. To the losers, nothing except the honour of a well fought contest in a testing year.

With Covid interrupting most of the season, it’s been wonderful to have 24 players taking part on Wednesday evenings, some getting their very first taste of the club and the sport.

The full league table is published on the Top10 League page.
